Senior Electrical Engineer

 

About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Electrical Engineer to join our engineering team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering electrical and telecommunication design engineering work efficiently during both proposal and project execution phases, ensuring compliance with international standards and supporting construction, procurement, and commissioning activities.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver electrical and telecommunication engineering design work on time and in accordance with project requirements.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated and effective design solutions.
  • Prepare electrical design deliverables including Single Line Diagrams, Load Schedules, Motor Control Schedules, Cable Schedules, routing drawings, grounding/earthing layouts, hazardous area classification drawings, and related documents.
  • Perform electrical calculations such as cable sizing, voltage drop, and short-circuit studies (ETAP or equivalent).
  • Prepare pre-commissioning and commissioning procedures and provide technical assistance during execution.
  • Support procurement activities: prepare equipment data sheets, bid tabulations, vendor technical evaluations, and assist with vendor coordination.
  • Provide technical support and supervision during construction, testing, and site activities (duration varies depending on project).
  • Participate in project engineering tasks including preparation of inquiry documents, bid evaluations, MTOs, cost estimation, and inter-discipline coordination.
  • Review and evaluate electrical equipment specifications (Transformers, HV/LV Switchgear, MCC, Motors, UPS, LCS, telecommunication systems, etc.).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university.
  • Minimum 10 years’ working experience, preferably in the Oil & Gas industry.
  • Proficiency in ETAP (Power System Studies).
  • Strong knowledge of international electrical codes and standards.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong technical expertise in electrical equipment and systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to work on electrical design through to construction and site supervision.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in project engineering, MTO, cost estimation, and inter-discipline coordination.
  • Registered with the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM).

Electrical Engineer

 

Job Descriptions:

  • Prepare electrical deliverables such as Single Line Diagram, Load Schedule, Motor Control Schedule, Cable schedule, Cable routing drawing, Power and Control drawing, Area Classification drawing, grounding drawing, etc.
  • Experienced in Project Engineering, Preparation of Electrical Inquiry Documents and commercial/technical Bid Evaluation, MTO and Cost Estimation and Inter-Discipline coordination.
  • Familiar with Electrical Equipment such as Transformers, HV & LV Switchgear, MCC, Motors, UPS, LCS, Communication equipments, etc.
  • Able to perform Electrical calculations such as Cable sizing/voltage Drop calculations, Short Circuit study, etc.
  • Coordination works with other disciplines and review of other disciplines (e.g. Mechanical, Instrument and etc.) equipment packages/specification/datasheets.
  • Responsible for delivering Electrical design engineering work efficiently and in a timely manner during proposal and project delivery stage.
  • Electrical Design & Engineering Work – to develop engineering design work based on requirements and to coordinate with other departments on the design work.
  • Preparing pre-commissioning/commissioning procedure and assistance.
  • Construction Assistance – to provide supervision at the construction site (depends on projects varies from few days to few months).
  • Procurement Assistance – to provide data sheet to Procurement, prepare bid tabulation and conduct evaluation on vendors’ quotation.

Job Requirements:

  • Possess a Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 5 years of working experience preferably in Oil & Gas industry.
  • Able to use ETAP – Power System Study.
  • Sufficient knowledge of International Codes & Standards in relation to Electrical Design.
  • Capable to prepare electrical deliverables such as Single Line Diagram, Load Schedule, Motor Control Schedule, Cable Schedule, Cable routing drawing, Power and Control drawing, Area Classification drawing, grounding drawing, etc.
  • Able to undertake works in electrical design up to construction at site (supervision).
