Toyo Engineering Corporation (TEC) has been awarded a contract for the World's Largest Ethylene Oxide (EO) and Ethylene Glycol (EG) plant with the capacity of EG 630,000 MTPA. This plant is to be constructed in Al-Jubail Industrial City on the eastern coast of Saudi Arabia by Jubail United Petrochemical Company (UNITED), a subsidiary of Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC). Based on the technology of Scientific Design, USA, TEC's scope of work of the contract includes engineering, procurement of equipment and materials, and construction of the plant on a Lumpsum turnkey contract basis. The plant is scheduled to be completed in the third quarter of 2004.
TEC has built the largest number of EO/EG plants in the world using Scientific Design process. TEC competed for United's job against Korean and European contractors. After the successful completion of an EO/EG plant for Saudi Yanbu Petrochemical Company (YANPET) in the year 2000, TEC was awarded a contract to build the World's Largest Polyethylene Plant, with the capacity of 800,000 MTPA, for Arabian Petrochemical Company (PETROKEMYA), another SABIC subsidiary, in Al-Jubail. TEC has also been recently awarded an Ammonia Plant debottlenecking job for National Chemical Fertilizer Company (IBN AL-BAYTAR), another SABIC subsidiary also located in Al-Jubail.
